Catch the King – Game, Rules, Strategy
Catch the King is an event mini-game in Metin2. The goal: score as many points as possible on a 5×5 grid of face-down cards to win the Golden King's Loot (German: Goldene Königsbeute) — the gold-tier reward chest. Silver and bronze chests are awarded for lower score brackets. This Catch the King helper (a.k.a. solver) shows the best move on every turn and your live gold-chance.
Game Rules
The 5×5 board contains 25 face-down cards:
- 7× the 1 (10 points)
- 4× the 2 (20 points)
- 5× the 3 (30 points)
- 5× the 4 (40 points)
- 3× the 5 (50 points)
- 1× the King (100 points)
You play a fixed sequence of hand cards: five 1s, two 2s, two 3s, one 4, one 5, and finally the King. Each hand card can either reveal a face-down field or catch a face-up one. Higher hand on lower board card = score and continue the turn (chain catch). Same value = score and turn ends. Lower hand on higher card = turn lost without points.
The 5-Rule and Flashing
If a 5 sits in any of the 8 neighbours of a hidden card, that card flashes red when revealed. On the 5-turn, only cells with at least one 5-neighbour can score the 5-card – everything else loses the card. This is why locking down the 5 positions early is critical.
Bingo Lines
There are 12 bingo lines: 5 rows, 5 columns, 2 diagonals. Catching all 5 cells in a line awards an extra +10 bingo bonus. Multiple bingos stack. The theoretical maximum is 870 points per game; the average with this helper is around 525.
Reward Chest Tiers
- Golden King's Loot (gold chest): 550+ points
- Silver chest: 400–549 points
- Bronze chest: 100–399 points
With perfect adherence to suggestions, this Metin2 helper lands the Golden King's Loot in ~44.8 % of 100,000 simulated games, silver in another 43.6 %, bronze in 11.6 %.
Strategy Tips
- Opener pattern (R2C2, R2C4, R4C2, R4C4): always play the first four 1-cards on these four cells. They cluster around the centre and yield maximum information about where the 5s are hiding.
- Save the centre: the centre cell has 8 neighbours, the highest leverage on the board for chains and bingos. Reveal late or pick it up during the 5-turn.
- King hunt: once the King is visible, the K-turn becomes a guaranteed +100. The helper prioritizes cells with high P(King).
- Risk tolerance: if you're below 550, risk is usually correct. Playing safe yields more silver but less gold – measured across 5,000+ comparison games.
How the Helper Works
Hover a cell and press 1–5 or K/6 for the revealed value. Shift + value marks a field that flashed. Click an unscored cell to catch it with your current hand card. Backspace undoes the last action, ESC resets the game.
